Each year, we plant more than 30 varieties of cutting sunflowers and several varieties of oil sunflowers across more than 78 acres in successive crops, creating weeks of breathtaking blooms and unforgettable photo-worthy views.
This is summer at Burnside.
Just 40 miles west of Washington, DC, our sunflower fields are designed for escaping the everyday and wandering, cutting your own bouquet, and soaking in the beauty of the season from sunrise to sunset.
Our sunflower season typically lasts at least four weeks, but bloom timing varies with the weather. For the most up-to-date opening information and field conditions, check today’s Field Report.

Foamy Fridays
You Loved It Last Year... Foamy Fridays Are BACK, every Friday!
After stealing the show last summer, our favorite Friday tradition returns for its second season! We’re transforming part of the farm into a bubble-filled paradise every Friday this July. It's the perfect mix of outdoor farm fun and a high-energy DJ dance party for all ages.
The Game Plan
Arrive early (Anytime after 4:00 PM): Explore the stunning flower fields, grab local food and drinks, and enjoy the farm before the main event.
The Main Event (Foam starts around 6pm and runs for two hours): A live DJ will be spinning danceable tracks as a giant wall of foam takes over the foam pad.
Pro-Tip from Season 1: Bring a change of clothes or a towel for the kids (and adults!). You will be frolicing, dancing, and definitely getting soapy!
Sunflower Mazes
One of our four-acre sunflower mazes. We plant three mazes each summer!
Get Lost in Gold: Our Epic 4-Acre Sunflower Mazes!
Move over corn mazes—summer belongs to the sunflowers! Every year, we custom-design and plant three massive, four-acre sunflower mazes for the ultimate summer adventure.
Because beautiful sunflower blooms are spectacular but fleeting, we stagger our plantings. By rotating three distinct mazes throughout the season, we ensure at least one giant maze is in peak, glorious bloom every single week of the summer!
Sunflower Sunsets
Our trademark Sunflower Sunsets - every evening in the sunflower fields is not to be missed!
Golden hour hits different when you're surrounded by millions of towering yellow blooms. Our Sunflower Sunsets are an absolute must-experience. Bring your favorite crew, grab a camera, and watch the sun dip below the horizon from inside a sea of gold.
