The rural Crescent Preservation Coalition
PLEASE SIGN UP TO HELP US SAVE & PRESERVE FARMLAND IN PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY!
We want to tell you about something that’s important to the future of our farm. You may know about our struggle to find a permanent home for our flower fields. Part of that struggle is due to an ordinance in Prince William County that was established in 1998, setting aside a large portion of land in what’s known as “The Rural Crescent.” While the initial goal of the Rural Crescent was intended to preserve land intended for agricultural use, we’ve found that it is now actually a hindrance to that, as farmland in the county is increasingly being sold to create homes on large lots of land, without any agricultural space being preserved. As this continues, it will become more and more difficult for small farms, like ours, to continue to operate in the county. We’d like invite you to learn more about what’s happening in the county by visiting www.preservetheruralcrescent.org.
The Rural Crescent is special – it deserves new common sense goals and planning. Please take a look at the information on the site and, if you feel it makes sense, sign up to join the coalition that is working to find real solutions to benefit the County and preserve rural areas.
